After not having sexual relations with my husband for 2 years. His sperm is brown colour. We wondered if this can be normal or if you have come across this before. He is 67 yrs old. Could you please advise. Thank you

Importance of Medical internship

Posted by:

Neelam

I am in the final year of MBBS (GSVM college) in Kanpur.I am very much interested to do my PG. But due to internship I may not get proper time to prepare for my PG. So is it okay not to do my internship seriously and rather prepare for my PG in my internship period. If yes, then in what all hospitals can I get such internship training which can issue me certificates without putting much of my efforts so that I can put my full efforts in my PG preparation.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Neelam, there is short cut in life. Do your internship seriously as well as study for PG. You cannot learn theory without practice.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

The symptoms are suggestive of pregnancy. Wait and watch. Get urine test for pregnancy. In case of pregnancy, symptoms gradually resolve.

As per the above advice i did the pregancy test it was negative, is it too early to do the pregancy test, pls suggest.. I am worried

Answer by voluntary user(s)

It is not too early. Most of tests can diagnose pregnancy in one week of fertilization. It could be due to stomach upset. Take light diets, avoid spices and fried. If very necessary try antacid.

Summary of Medical Question:

UTI/vaginal infection

Posted by:

ReNae

About a week ago, I had burning when I urinated and noticed I had red spots around the vaginal area. I also developed a series of small blisters on my upper thigh. I no longer have the burning during urination and the blisters seem to be better. Should I go to the doctor to make sure I don't have anything serious going on or just let this run its course without antibiotics. I don't like taking medications, but don't want things to get worse if I don't. This has been going on for about 2 weeks now. Thanks.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Renae, this is very serious. Seems to be sexually transmitted infection (STI). STIs are notorious for starting as very mild symptoms and symptoms can disappear spontaneously but the infection remains inside and keeps proliferating. Pl get yourslef examined by a gynecologist. Get swab, urine and blood tests done for STIs including HIV. Never agree for sexual contact without precautions like condom.

Summary of Medical Question:

Azithromycin side effect

Posted by:

Jesse

Got and std test came positive for chlamydia, did not have strong symptoms, was presribed 1g of Azithromycin now my pee really burns bad and it has been like 5 days. Is this normal

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Burning sensation of urine is likely to be due to disease and not due to drug. Get yourself examined by a gynecologist/ veneriologist. Cervical swab can confirm clamydia. Also urine C&S examination and HIV tests are recommended. Avoid sexual contact witout precautions like condom.
_____________________________________________________

No, Jessy, this is not normal. In burning micturition we have to rule out certain diseases like gonorrhoea. May be initially symptoms were mild but infection can flare up gradually. These are sexually transmitted infections and should not be ignored. The dose of azithromycin or amoxycillin in gonorrhoea is 2 gms stat. Please consult a skin specialist.

Will the high dosage intake of paraceptamol may be causing any risk?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

In recommended doses, paracetamol does not irritate the lining of the stomach, affect blood coagulatiion or affect function of the kidneys, However, some studies have shown that high dose-usage (greater than 2,000 mg per day) does increase the risk of upper gastrointestinal complications such as stomach bleeding.
