I have had a mirena coil fitted for3 years but recently i have been wonderin if i could be pregnant. 2-3 months ago i thought i had a bad case of ibs, sickness, diahorrhea stomach cramps, which went away after a couple of weeks but now I have noticed my stomach has started swelling and I am feeling sick most of the time and my moods have become erratic and i start crying at the slightest thing. Is there any chance I might be pregnant

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Sara, when u get the intra uterine device or coil removed, u can get pregnant. But, it would be good if you first regain your health and then think of pregnancy. Take light, small and frequent meals. Avoid spices. Take lactobacilli preparations for digestion.

Itchy

Posted by:

Caitlin Hayes

Hi,
I currently broke out into a rash of three bumps on my leg, i just assumed it was from Garlic, in which I am allergic to, I took benadril. This was 3 days ago. Today, I have those three bumps plus more. I dont know what they are. There are no flys out now, so its not fly bites, and my environment is clean. So I dont really know what it might be. They are Large, red and very very very itchy.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Caitlin, if you suspect allergic reaction, try antihistaminic drug like avil tablet. Also get it examined by a family physician.

Summary of Medical Question:

rash and itching

Posted by:

Frank Campbell

hello, my problem is a skin rash on face around eyes and on cheeks .It itches very much and is not going away, its red and very dry and has bumps associated with it.My doctor said it was a form of acne and gave anti-biotics that seem to have no effect at all in fact the problem seems to be getting worse.I have been taking the anti-biotics for 2 weeks now and think I should stop because they are having no effect your advice is welcome

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Thank you for your advice,Istopped the anti-biotics and the skin is very red and excessivly dry I am putting just water from a spray on my face now .The problem is not getting worse, but its not getting better either,do you have any additional advice that may help?
_____________________________________________________

Frank, acne generally do not cause itching. Stop antibiotic as it is not likely to help. Stop all chemicals- soap, creams etc.

Summary of Medical Question:

Cervical ectropion and conception?

Posted by:

Sarah

I am 27, have only had one sexual partner (my husband) and had a yeast infection 1 year ago. We use condoms as Birth Control. My husband and I recently went for a pre-conception appointment. We are on assignment in another country so it was in another language and I want to check some things. Test are being run - but the Dr said that I had some Cervical ectropion around the opening of my cervix. That it looked like it had been there sometime. She said that I should have an operation to correct the problem before I conceive.
1) Is an operation needed?
2) If so does it need to happen before I conceive?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Sarah, there is pressure on cervix during pregnancy and the cervix dilates during delivery so any problem on cervix may get potentiated. Pl get it corrected before conceiving.
_____________________________________________________

sarah
With pregnancy, the cervix tends to evert, making the ectropion larger or
If the ectropion is causing symptoms (eg., post-coital bleeding), or in the presence of recurrent cervical infections (cervicitis), then the ectropion can be treated
these treatments are cryosurgery, chemical cautery (AgNO3), electrocautery, thermal cautery, LEEP, and laser ablation

Rgds,
Bhavani Satish

Answer by voluntary user(s)

The symptoms are suggestive of pregnancy. Wait and watch. Get urine test for pregnancy. In case of pregnancy, symptoms gradually resolve.

As per the above advice i did the pregancy test it was negative, is it too early to do the pregancy test, pls suggest.. I am worried

Answer by voluntary user(s)
It is not too early. Most of tests can diagnose pregnancy in one week of fertilization. It could be due to stomach upset. Take light diets, avoid spices and fried. If very necessary try antacid.

Importance of Medical internship

Posted by:

Neelam

I am in the final year of MBBS (GSVM college) in Kanpur.I am very much interested to do my PG. But due to internship I may not get proper time to prepare for my PG. So is it okay not to do my internship seriously and rather prepare for my PG in my internship period. If yes, then in what all hospitals can I get such internship training which can issue me certificates without putting much of my efforts so that I can put my full efforts in my PG preparation.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Neelam, there is short cut in life. Do your internship seriously as well as study for PG. You cannot learn theory without practice.
