It is generally transmitted through blood or sex so the patient should be careful to prevent transmission to others. Partner may be protected by vaccination aginst heaptitis B.

Fingers

Posted by:

David

what causes fingers to go fall asleep mainly pinky and ring finger and occassionally whole hand

Answer by voluntary user(s)

David, temperary numbness of fingers could be due to deficiency of vitamins in the body. Try vitamin B1+ B6+ B12 preparations for few weeks. If there is no improvement or if there is reduced/ loss of sensation or reduced power in muscles then a definite neurological check up is required.

Names of HGH boosting Pills in men

Posted by:

John

I need to know the names of some pills or medication to boost HGH (Human Growth Hormone) which are easily available in Indian Pharmacy. It should have the least side effects and if its Ayurvedic or herbal, it would be much better. I workout regularly and i want to grow physically and strengthen my bones. So can you please recommend some names? Thank You.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

John, forget about growth hormones. Growth hormones are tried in extreme cases of dwarfism, deficiency of pitutary hormones. It is not recommended in normal cases and has number of side effects. The only option for a normal person is to do vigorous exercises, jogging, weight lifting etc and take nutritious diets- meat and poultry products, fruits and green leafy vegetables. I am sure you will grow fast.

Summary of Medical Question:

spotting between cycle

Posted by:

Jessica

im on the pill and last month i missed a few (have before) but i got back on track well now for the past 2 weeks ive been spotting off and on.first it was brown and now its red.my period should be coming soon but im going on vacation and dont want it to but i dont know what to do because i dont know whats going on with my body.whats wrong and if possible how can i prevent my period from coming?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Jessica, in a normal healthy girl/ woman also there are occasional irregularities in menstruation that goes off on its own. Irregularity in adminstration of pills can also cause irregularity in menstruation. Nothing to worry, it may settle down. It is not advisable to stop mestruation by medication. That will further lead to irregularities. All activities can be performed by a woman in menstruation, no need to stop it.

Summary of Medical Question:

Low platelet count

Posted by:

Ajay Gupta

Hi,

I have a low platelet count (150 units) on the desirable range of 150-450 units. I have noticed that my healing of wounds tends to be on the slower side, possibly as a result of the low platelet count. Can you suggest how I can go about increasing my platelet count? I am a 26 yr male, non smoker, non drinker.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Ajay, generally dengue fever or other viral infections cause reduced platelet count and after the infection is over the count recovers on its own. Please get complete blood count done along with peripheral blood smear and consult a hematologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

leg injury

Posted by:

cris

I was kicked by a horse 2.5 wks ago. the site (shin) was immediatly very swollen, like a tennis ball on front of shin, I iced and elevated etc. The swelling became less localised and after a few days i got bruising from knee to foot on front and side of leg. I had a small graze at impact site. This is now about 1.5 inch across and will not heal. During the day my leg swells from below knee to ankle with sweeling which does not recover shape after pressure on lower leg. I can walk ok and pain only when going downhill etc. The wound is not seeping pus but some waterey discharge. I have kept the wound clean. I have applied a topical tri antibiotic for last few days. I have also been taking 400 mgs ibuprofen 3 times day. I am 58 yrs old femal not overweight, non smoker and regularly exercise(run etc) I do have medication for blood pressure (plendil 5mg) and simvastatin 40mg daily.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Cris, if you can walk normally and pain is not significant going downhill, bones and ligaments are likely to be alright. Only problem seems to be external wound. Start hot saline fomentation of the wound. Let it dry and then apply betadine ointment. Let it remain open. It may be repeated 2-3 times a day for 5 days. If swelling is still there continue ibuprofen for few days more.
