How can MENTAL CERTIFICAN be obtained from AIIMS? I require it for my father, 55years old. he is not well for last 8-9 years and getting treatment from HOLY FAMILY HOSPITAL NEW DELHI. I require Certificate from a government hospital.

Seema, take your father to psychiatry OPD at AIIMS. If doctor is convinced of illness, he may provide a certificate. It may take few months follow up.

Frank, heart muscle weakness is known as cardiomyopathy. It can be hypertrophic which runs in families and in which cardiac muscles are enlarged. The other is dilated cardiomyopathy which could be due to heart attack (coronary artery diesase) or many other reasons. It results in weakness, breathlessness. The condition needs to assessed by a cardiologist and drugs like digitalis, ACE inhibitors, B blockers etc can provide definite relief.

So far my doctor wants me to have anotherdoppler test and another at the hospital,I want to know why or at least what to expect;no explanation yet.

I read somewhere that a combination of imatinib and rapamycin is assumed to be a cure for chordoma.Pls tell me the details if it is so.Also my father started taking imatinib but could not continue as it has a lot of side effects. Does everyone has these side effects and is there any way in which he can take the medicine but side effects may be minimised

Shubhra, these drugs are new and have been tried with varying responses. However, cure is unlikely. Please refer to a Neurologist in a postgraduate institute.

i have severe headaches that cause my teeth to hurt on the left side of my head for over two weeks. I went to the dentist who found nothing wrong but gave me amoxicillin and vicoden. Its not working. I also tried sinus medication.

Rajesh, take a complete course of antiamebic e.g. metranidazole. Avoid eating outside, use clean and soft drinking water only. Intestinal flora like lactobacilli and enzymes like panreaozymin may improve digestion. Consult a gastroentrologist.

my problem is that last two years back when i was excercise in gym and having bench press spl dig line my back stressed and i got muscle phatic that even i can not stand but with excercise and pain killer i got my self remedy but actual problem is that in previous two years the pain comes and out but since last 3 months it never gives me relae that even i can not walk and my lower back looks jammed as i daily wlaked for 5 km but now i dont think it can really happen again as iam 41years old and fatish body ,please do advice me on my e mail squit and other excercise are going proper.

My 16 year old son is on blood thinners because of clots due to his factor 5 lieden. Tonight he has been experiencing blood in his stools, abdominal pain when he gets up or down, and his leg is 5-6 inches bigger than the other one from groin to toes. I have called the hosp here twice in the last 4 hrs to get his dr paged but i havent gotten called back. I want to know if this is something to be concerned about that needs immediate attention or if it can wait til regular office hours?

one thing I forgot to mention that my father had lost a lot of weight during radiation but now by GOD's grace he is gaining weight .Does it mean that the chordoma is having lesser impact and he is improving.Can it be a case that the tumour might become dormant at a later stage

Thanks for your response.the tumor that has developed again is near the spine and the doctor says we should avoid getting it operated. My father was taking imatinib but got a lot of side effects because of which he could not continue the same. Currently we are taking homeopathic medicine from Dr. Kalyan Bannerjee in Delhi.Does Chordoma has any treatment in homeopathy ,ayurved or any other naturopathy ? What best can we do pls suggest.

Shubhra, there is no scientifically proven remedy available in homeopathy or ayurveda. Occasionally these therapies do produce miracles. Since there is no treatment available, no harm in taking a chance with homeopathy.

Ravi, there is no medicine to increase height. Take lot of streneous exercises, stretching, jogging and take plenty of rich food- green leafy vegetables, fruits, eggs/ meat etc.

i had taken finasteride for 1 year about 2 years ago....now i have started to take it again from the last 2 months as i have read on internet that u loose ur regained hairs if u stop taking the pill....so pls can u you tell me if it is safe to proceed with the pill...pls mention any side effects.

Jai, there is no evidence of long term safety of finasteride use. Its side effects include problems in erection and breast enlargement. It is better to avoid long term use.

reourring yeast infection after menustration

Every month after menustration I have the itching, soreness, and inflammation that occurs with a yeast infection the only difference now since I done a couple of treatments from my doctor is no more of the cottage cheese looking discharge. Its more of a constant itching and soreness of my inner lips. Can you please help me cause I have done Flaygl, and clotrimazole cream but it comes right back after menus.
