Dinesh, take lot of exercises- jogging, skipping, stretching exercise and weight lifting. Also take lot of nutritious diet- fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and eggs & meat (if you are not vegetarian). Take a course of antiworms tablet. I am sure you will gain weight and health.

I have been on a very-low calorie diet (400-600 cal a day) for about 5 to 6 months now. Because of this I know my metabolism is really slow! I am 16 years old and I weigh 97Ibs. I want to know if there is anyway for me to speed my metabolism up? I know I should exercise and eat specific foods that help boost the metabolism but i'm wondering if there is anything specific I should do or eat?...

I posted a recent query abt finasteride....i'm glad you answered....can u pls tell me is there any other tablet or medicine effective in preventing hair-loss....minoxidil is a hair lotion kinda thing.i'm talking abt oral-medicine...also please tell me DHT blocker natural foods,as DHT hormone is the main culprit here,if i'm right.looking forward to ur answer.

Jai, there is no definitive therapy for hair loss. However, hair transplants have been successful in selected cases.

I have severe pain in left side of hip, groain, and lower back, pinches in the buttocks. i can sit, or walk without it pulling on from hip to groain, have had specialist perform test, and no identification, as if this does not exist, please advise what i can have and if the emergency room be able to take care of it on the same day meaning not to be referred to another specialist for mri need help thks

i have a painfull lump on the outside of my anal ring, it hurts when i sit down and walk what could this be?

Mathew, it seems to be peri-anal abcess, generally caused due to blockade of ducts of a gland. It has to be incised and pus needs to be drained out. It is a minor procedure and can be done under local anesthesia as out patient. Please consult a general surgeon.

Deepak, it depends on many factors. If there is sudden increase in blood glucose for a short duration (acute) there may not be any symptom. If blood sugar raise is over a long duaration (chronic), eyes, kdneys, heart etc many organs can get damaged.

Seema, take your father to psychiatry OPD at AIIMS. If doctor is convinced of illness, he may provide a certificate. It may take few months follow up.

Frank, heart muscle weakness is known as cardiomyopathy. It can be hypertrophic which runs in families and in which cardiac muscles are enlarged. The other is dilated cardiomyopathy which could be due to heart attack (coronary artery diesase) or many other reasons. It results in weakness, breathlessness. The condition needs to assessed by a cardiologist and drugs like digitalis, ACE inhibitors, B blockers etc can provide definite relief.

So far my doctor wants me to have anotherdoppler test and another at the hospital,I want to know why or at least what to expect;no explanation yet.

I read somewhere that a combination of imatinib and rapamycin is assumed to be a cure for chordoma.Pls tell me the details if it is so.Also my father started taking imatinib but could not continue as it has a lot of side effects. Does everyone has these side effects and is there any way in which he can take the medicine but side effects may be minimised

Shubhra, these drugs are new and have been tried with varying responses. However, cure is unlikely. Please refer to a Neurologist in a postgraduate institute.

i have severe headaches that cause my teeth to hurt on the left side of my head for over two weeks. I went to the dentist who found nothing wrong but gave me amoxicillin and vicoden. Its not working. I also tried sinus medication.
