Summary of Medical Question:

the pill and smoking

Posted by:

courteny

I started the 28 pack of Aviane birth control on Tuesday, and I had two smokes yesterday, and one today. I know I'm not supposed to smoke on the pill but I know how this will go. I'm not addicted yet, and I have smoked before for long term and was never addicted.
I was wondering if I should switch pills, or if the result would be mild, or whether to go off the pill. Please don't tell me to stop smoking, its not the answer I'm looking for. I'm 13.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Dear Courteny, you know the right answer. Do some introspection- what do you want to do or achieve in life? You want to have pleasure at this stage and suffer rest of life or you can restrain at this stage and succeed in life. God bless you.

Adel, the severity of cerebral palsy varies greatly from vary mild to very sever, accordingly the prognosis depends on the ability of the person to move, feed and care for himself indepedently. Physiotherapy can definitely help.

Summary of Medical Question:

Weird Period?

Posted by:

Misty

I started my period on the 5th of this month, September. It was two days before it was supposed to start, which I wasn't really worried about. I bled for two days, I usually last three to four. On the 12th of this month, I noticed that I started bleeding again...fiveish days after I ended what I thought was my period. Its been lighter, i haven't had to wear a tampon or pad - its just there when I wipe. Its also been a brighter red. What could this mean?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Misty, occasionally there are menstrual irregularities in healthy women also. It is normal and likely to revert to normal cycles. Just observe for a couple of cycles. Take care of contraception/ conception. If there is excessive bleeding, refer to a gynecologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

Whooping Cough

Posted by:

Anne Jordan

Going to Sydney NSW where there is a serious outbreak of Whooping Cough, she suggest I should be vaccinated, I am female aged 72.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Anne, single shot of Tdap vaccine is recommended up to 64 years. Please contact local health officer for your eligibility for the vaccine. However, if there are cases of cough, pertusis in your surrounding area, wearing a mask- preferably cotton, dauble layer can prevent transmission of infection to you.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

anne: i would certainly get a shot. the immunization you had as a child may have worn off. pertussis is a pretty bad disease to have, very exhausting and even dangerous.

take care,
carole jordan

Summary of Medical Question:

azoospermia

Posted by:

auranga

My bro has azoospermia (zero sperm count). Is there treatment for this as some doctors claim? If there is, is it available at AIIMS and how can we get treament there?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

There is no specific treatment for most of the cases of azoospermia. All those who claim it are cheats. However, very rarely it can be due to obstruction or infection and it would require through investigations to identify such a cause and if found can be treated accordingly. Refer to site for details: http://www.pdrhealth.com/disease/disease-mono.aspx?contentFileName=ND7359G.xml&contentName=Azoospermia&contentId=261&TypeId=2
