rosai dorfmann

Posted by:

priyank

hi..
my mother is suffering from rosai dorfmann as established in AIIMS. She is having lymph nodes all over her body , not of very big sizes but still they are many. Also she has lots of weakness and low haemoglobin count . She has been on multivitamins for that. Treatment has been on , but to no effect . It has been there for last 1 year and no improvement . Im in a very confused state with no direction to look forward. Seek help.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Priynka, the cause of rosai dorfmann is not known. Some cases resolve on their own, some respond to chemotherapy and some cases do not respond and continue for years and decades. Sorry, there is no definite remedy available.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

The effect of ipill will continue the next day also so no need to take another dose. Please understand that ipill is only to cover up the mistake one commits, may be once in a life time. It may result in lots of side effects including irregular menstruation if used repeatedly. Secondly, besides protection against conception, you also need to protect yourself against STIs including HIV/ AIDS,

Summary of Medical Question:

re: my sister on CAPD dialisis

Posted by:

Kathleen DeBrincat

My sister had kidney failure when she was 18 years old. Then she had a kidney transplant 3.5 years later and this transplanted kidney lasted 12 years. However three months ago she had a kidney rejection, and for the first month she was on Haemodialysis, and in the last two months she has been using CAPD dialysis. The last tests they took of her was about a month ago at hospital and they told her that the results are quite norma for a patient with kidney failure: her Creatinine was 500 and her other results like potassium etc were normal. However she is suffering from severe pain in her legs especially her feet, and this pain is persisting and has it everyday and most of the time. She is desperate and even her nephrologist seems not to be able to help her with this. He has given her pain killers, and Voltaren but sometimes even this is not working. On the other hand please note that when she had her kidney failure about 15 years ago and she was on Haemodialysis her creatinine was very high for many reasons, it was about 1000, but still she never suffered any terrible pain in her legs and feet. Her Nephrologists attributes this to acid in her joints, and to the fact that she has side effects of the immuno suppressants which she had been taking during the last twelve years when she had the transplanted kidney but he sustains that all this will go when the gets a new kidney. However she can't wait till then. I am giving you details of the CAPD bags she uses everyday, maybe there is something wrong with the amount and type of CAPD bags she is using however please bear in mind that she has a small abdomen and she weighs only 50.4 : She starts in the morning with a Dianeal PD1 bag and uses 1500 ml, then she uses Nutrineal PD4 bag and uses 1500 ml of it, then she uses a Dianeal PD1 bag again and uses 1500 ml of it. Then last thing before she sleeps she uses an ExtraNeal Bag and uses 2000 ml of it. By the way recently she has taken a bone density test and resulted that the patient is Osteopenia. Also please note that the patient is taking the following pills:
She still takes immune suppressants but minimum dose even though kidney was rejected, (this was suggested by the doctor), she takes Ciclosporin 25mg two times a day, and Prednisolone 5mg on alternate days. Then takes Remeprazolone to avoid stomach ulcers 1 x20mg a day, she also takes Ferrograd Folic tablets two tablets a day,she also takes NEO Recormon 4 times x 3000 IU a week and last but not least she takes Alphacalcidol 1mg x 3 times a week. I am giving details of all the medicinals she is taking cause maybe this combination is also causing her terrible pain in her feet and legs. Please help her and us cause we are desperate to help her.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Kathleen, creatinine is very high and may be causing all problems. Please repeat tests for creatinine, urea, serum eletrolytes, serum calcium, uric acid, RA factor and complete blood count. Treatment may be given for any abnormal test findings. In the mean time explore the possibilities for another transplant. Please refer to a Urologist for expert opinion.
