Lower abdominal pain/ cold/ flue symptoms

I have a flue/ cold, i am struggling to sleep, i feel really hot, but to make things worse i have this pain in my lower right abdominal area, when i cough it hurts, (especially when green stuff comes up) i sneeze it hurts and to move when im laying down it hurts. Any suggestions to what it is?

Kate, lower right abdominal pain could be appendicities. Please get it checked by a general surgeon. Ultrasonography can confirm or rule out appendicities. Appendicities can be a serious problem and should not be ignored.

can you please offer advice or suggestions.for many years i have been suffering from chronic pain in my right foot.the pain is their all the time,but gets worse after walking,standing in one place for a period of time,and stress.it started with shooting pains down my leg.its like pins and needles----or burning current in my Toes,and accross my foot.i have had E.M.G. recently and it was ok.also.got MRIscan of lower back-----some ware and tare l4==l5. but my gp says it wouldnt cause this problem. Pain is getting worse....ANy ideas would or treatment,medication,i would be very grateful. Joe.

Joe, you have mentioned EMG and MRI are OK. They indicate health of soft tissues. What about the health of bones? Has x- ray foot been done? Take pain killers like ibuprofen plus paracetamol. Get the foot examined by an orthopedic surgeon along with x -ray, MRI and EMG reports.

There are many good centres in Hyderabad- Yashoda Hospital, Care Hospital, Wockardt Hospital etc.

HI,
I am not aware of the quality of the Scans done at various centers, but i can help you with price. I was surprised at the variation in price for the MRI scan across various centers. HEre are the rates as i found in oct 2009.
All rates are per part of the body. Eg: C-Spine, LS-Spine etc.

Apollo Junille Hills - Rs. 6000/-
Remedy, KPHB - Rs 5000/-
Elbit, Banjara Hills - Rs.6000/-
Lucid, Banjara - Rs.6000/-
Tapadia, RTC X roads - Rs.2700/-

Whats even more surprising is the willingness of some of these centers to negotiate and offer a discount. For scanning 3 parts of body, i was offered Rs.3000 discount by both Lucid and Elbit. Hope this helps.

i get a sharp chest pain on left side every once in a while which lasts like fraction of a second. also lately when i exercise my heart starts beating really hard and i can almost feel it in my mouth. wat could be the reason ?

PK, it is not likely to be heart problem but to be sure, get it investigated- ECG, treadmill test and obtain cardiologist's opinion. Start with mild exercises and gradually increase it as your heart and breathing adjust to it.

i am sufering from very bad stomach pains & have been for some time i have been to the hospital but all they do is give me pain killers & so far have had 4 flexie scopes which have showen up divertical problems but the pain is on the right side of my stomach from top to bottom & are geting more painfull as time gose on i have tried to explain this to the doctors but they just dont seam to listen when i eat a lot of the time the food passes through undigested as do the tablets i am on & when i go to the toilet a lot of the time there is dark jelly blood what can be the cause of the problem im at my whits end & dont no what to do please help. thank you

Jim, sever pain abdomen should be taken seriously. We need to rule out peptic ulcer, panreatitis, renal colic, appendicitis etc. An ultrasonography and plain x-ray abdomen should be done immediately. Please refer to a general surgeon or gastroentrologist.

Tanya, hormone implant can cause menstrual irrregularity for some time. But you had got it implanted long back (2 years back) so it is unlikely to be the cause of problem. If the bleeding lasts for two weeks, it should be investigated. Dilatation and curettage with biopsy need to be done. Please consult a gynecologist.

I recently went to the hospital but they couldn't treat me but did 2 ultrasounds i have a cyst or tumor outside of my uterus.Went to the health dept and they found a cyst on my ovarie I am 23 years of age .Gotten sick 3 times last night have no insurance don't know what to do.The health dept wouldn't refer me.I have pain .The hospital told me that I need to make sure I get it confirmed that it is actual
Endometriosis.I have never had children .I have my weight tooken and I weigh only 101 lbs have lost some weight and my iron is low.Someone please help me!!!!!!

Melanie, there is no cure for endometriosis. However, drugs and surgery can reduce pain and further spread. Consult a gynecologist for further management.

3 missed abortions

Dear doctor,

Hello,

I am writing to you with a hope that you will guide me and help me.

I am 38 years old female. My blood group is B+ and my husband’s is O+ . I Got married in April 2008 and had two missed abortions .First happened in June 2008 when till 8th week heart beats did not come. Second happened in March 2009 where heart beats came at 6th and half week but had slight bleeding and at 7th week heart beats stopped.

The following blood tests have been done for me -

Lupus Anticoagulant screen - Negative
Glucose tolerance test – Normal
Rubella –Negative
Toxoplasma – Negative
Free T4/TSH – Normal
Glycosylated HB (HbA1c) – Normal
CBC – Normal
ACA – Negative
VDRL – Non reactive
Analysis of Protein C and S – Normal
G20210 A mutation – Negative

Apart from blood tests –

3D Ultrasound of my pelvic area – normal (After 3D ultrasound do I require Xray also) ??

Karyotype of self , husband , Product of conception – All are normal

Semen of husband’s report showed – Normospermia with prolonged liquification and mild infection.

My periods are regular .My BP is normal.

As all the reports came normal after 2nd missed abortion so my doctor advised me - Folvite and Loprin 75 and to plan Pregnancy .

After 3 months of my 2nd missed abortion we planned again and I had conceived.My LMP was 26th July 2009 .Once test came positive on 28th July immediately my doctor started Inj - Susten (200) mg twice a week and Tab Duphaston (10)- Thrice a day apart from Loprin 75 and Folvite .I was put on complete rest .

Ultrasound at 7th week 4 days showed Gestational sac of 5 weeks and 3 days , yolk sac but no fotel pole. Advised to repeat u/s after 10 days .Yesterday it was performed again after 10 days and showed no growth . Concluded missed abortion .

I am disheartened that inspite of susten injection why this time it did not grow after 5 weeks (In last 2 times it grew upto 7 weeks and even heart beats came ) but this time it never grew after 5 weeks .

Pls advice –

1) what could be the possible reason for my 3 missed abortions??

2) Is there any test to access the quality of egg and sperm ??(If its happening due to bad egg or sperm)

3)What next should I do ??

Pls reply. I am very very frustrated with my situation . My age is running .I do not know what to do next??

Kajal, since all important test reports are normal, it is difficult to comment on the reason for repeated abortions. The situation seems to be beyond the understanding of medical science. Pray to the God and my suggestion is adopt a girl child, all your problems would be over.

Jeanette, the chances of breast cancer due to oral contraceptives are negligible. Also ensure that you are protected from STIs including HIV/ AIDS.

i am 52 now i was 19 when i began feeling a sensation something bad was happening to me when i bent over then it would stop when i sit or stood up then i started havinga red rash that looked like a severe sunburn but wasnt and it burned so bad and then i lost my voice all this lasted 3 years then i began having visual disturbances and swelling in my stomach and twitcing all over and rashes and when i eat i either get so hyper i cant sit still or i get so weak i cannot stand up with in minutes of eating and i get confused and get virtigo so bad i cant sit or stand for months and when i need to have a bowel movement i get dizzy and wheeze and get nervous and stiff all over and after i finish i feel better or it can trigger it after i finish i look pregnant but im not i wheeze but i feel its from my stomach i feel causing it i have amylase from 400-1000 almost all the time in the blood and urine is over 1400 but not much pain just severe spasms and position can trigger all of this and laying down i will feel as though i dont know where i am at and i feel in my chest or upper abdomen a sensation of doom as if something bad will happen to me there i have a metallic taste so severe sometimes and tingling in my face and i swelled under my chin or neck area for many years and had trouble saying a lot of words under my tongue seemed to be swollen i seem to react to medications so bad since this started i get as i call them fumes that come up which make me dizzy and then i break out in hives all around my jaw area and and wheeze and get rashes instantly and the fumes make my nose drip and my eyes drip and i drool and i can eat and within minutes i get soooo severely sleepy i cant stay awake for many hours this can last for months i can wake up from e deep sleep shaking and heart arhythmias of 270 bpm and wheeze and feel this strannge sensation of doom and my stomach will be is severe spasms and my blood pressure will be high then after 30 minutes it gets better please help me if you can there are more symptoms also just not sure which ones will be of interest to you this put my life on hold when it started and i wanted to persue my schooling or go in the military which ended when all of this began i do not feel it is anxiety as i had and wish i could have again a gusto for life and my husband suggested we move to his country of egypt to see if we could get some help but nobody seems to know what to do is it rare? am i lacking a enzyme to break down something in my body? or is it genetic disease? i guess we all think and search when we have no answers but i still cant give up and really i need help im so scared everyday i never know what a new day has in store for me.....plzzzz help me!!!
