Summary of Medical Question:

Diet for cancer survivor.

Posted by:

Gary Gray

My wife is a breast cancer survivor and I read where she should avoid sugar, among other foods. Does this avoidance include starch which converts to sugar? Potatoes, corn and bread?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

i see no reason to avoid particular foods. i think she should eat as she pleases, adhering to a healthy balanced diet. she's had enough trouble without avoiding certain foods and then worrying if she really wants a pizza.

my 22 mth son has had these symptoms since saturday runny nose, temp, head sore to touch, blocked ear, jelly legs, sun light hurts his eyes home light ok, in a world of his own

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Sam, these are symptoms of flue or upper respiratory tract infection. Give your son broad spectrum antibiotic like amoxycillin and anti fever drug like paracetamol. Consult a pediatrician. He will be alright. But, all parents should be aware that during an illness if their baby has high grade fever or is not fully conscious or is not active or is not taking normal diets or has rapid breathing or has difficulty in breathing, immediatey be taken to a hospital.

Summary of Medical Question:

bleeding

Posted by:

Mark Strausburg

I had a skin tag torn off this morning and I cannot get the wound to stop bleeding,I have kept compression on it for about 2 hours.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Mark, if bleeding has not stopped after 2 hours compression, there is need to get it examined. If the wound is deep and blood vessels are torn, there is a need to do suturing. If the wound is not deep, there is a need to investigate to rule out blood clotting disorders by blood tests. Please consult a physician or a hematologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

i had chlamydia and gonorrhea

Posted by:

sam

I recently had chlamydia and gonorrhea and was treated for it, but i didn't even know i had it or was treated for it until 2 weeks later when i got a letter. Well before I found out i had it i played with a sex toy and not knowing i had it and was treated for it i used the toy again. Does this mean i still have it?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Sam, theoritically these organisms are not likely to remain alive on an inanimate object if the toy was dry for several hours between use. However, be alert for occurance of any symptom. In future take precautions against STIs including HIV/ AIDS.

Summary of Medical Question:

birth control side effects

Posted by:

anonymous

I started taking Yaz birth control almost 3 months ago. Also, I am 18, don't smoke, and have no medical conditions that would put me at risk. In the beginning I would feel sick from it, often it involved sort of body aches, nausea, my heart racing, and sometimes pain in my legs. Into the third month on most days I am fine, however, today it happened again. Not has severe has the first month, but it still scares me. Is this normal, or should I be checked for blood clots or other problems?
