Summary of Medical Question:

Hypertension, chest pain, Hx of kidney issues

Posted by:

Jessie

I am 25 years old with a significant family hx of heart disease. I have hypertension which I finally agreed to take Labetalol to treat it. About 2 weeks ago, I started having chest pain on the left side that overwhelmed my shoulder and down my arm. I shrugged it off as a pulled muscle. Last Sat. my husband called an ambulance because my BP was 224/206 and I was having trouble breathing. All of my blood work came back fine and I went on my way. Saw family Dr. tues and he wouldnt let me leave due to BP 187/134 and still chest pain. Cardiac enzymes still came back fine and I checked myself out and agreed to start on Norvask as well. I have a hx of kidney stones and am currently experiencing bilateral flank pain radiating to my groin and down my legs. CT showed no stones in ureters but still in the kidneys. I am trying to tie together and find out what is wrong. I lose my insurance in 2 weeks and am desperate to find an answer before I stroke out. Please help!

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Jessie, kidney stones can damage kidney tissues and that can lead to high blood pressure. There is a need to work out kidney function tests. Pain in flanks and back could be due to stones. Stone may be removed by lithotripsy. Blood pressure may resolve if it is due to kidney. Chest pain radiating to left shoulder appears to be due to heart problem. That needs ECG/ EKG, treadmill test and may be angiography. If there is any blockade in heart vessels, angioplasty or bypass surgery may be required. Ofcourse blood pressure need to be kept under control by drugs till kidney problem is resolved. Please consult a sugeon for kidney problem and cardiologist for heart problem.

Summary of Medical Question:

Virchow-Robin space

Posted by:

susan

I have migrane headaches and I had a Ct of the head with and without contrast. The finds were Ventricles are normal size and are midline. Punctate low attenuation focus left caudate head may represent Virchow-Robin space or tiny chronic lacunar. No other abnormal areas. I am worried about this as I looked up Virchow-Robin space and it is mini strokes. Is this something I should be worried about? Do my migraines have anything to do with this?
Thanks

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Susan, the significance of virchow robin space in normal people is not well undestood. Nothing can be done to repair/ treat it. Please consult a neurologist for exact opinion.

Vaginal infection

Posted by:

Selena Tan

I have another problem. I just got my pap smear result and was informed by the nurse that there was infection in my vaginal. Could it be due to my piles/warts? She ask me not to worry as it's only very mild and ask me to go for another pap smear test in 6 month's time.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Dear Selena, it seems to be same problem- human pipilloma virus with anal wart. These are sexually transmitted infections. Please do not waste any more time and refer to a veneriologist/ dermatologist and start the treatment. Take precautions during sexual contact to prevent further transmission of the diasese to others.
