Summary of Medical Question:

last period 27/09/09 age 44yrs NO medical problems, healthy and dont look my age.have had 2 miscarriages in the past.have not taken a pregnancy test yet

Posted by:

Radhika patel

I need to know, when i should take a pregnancy test and how soon should i visit a gynac

I had been to an expert ivf specialist but the dr was not able to tell me why i had the 2 miscarriages.all tests were normal.the heat beats suddenly lowered and stopped

what precautions can i take to avoid miscarriage.earlier i had a very strenous job now i am a housewife
both the pregs and this one is normal--natural with no medications taken

i am worried and need some advice to prevent future mischaps if the pregnancy test is positive

sympoms like nausea are there but i thought to wait and take it at the end of the week

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Radhika, you may get the pregnancy test done and consult a gynecologist. They try certain hormones to prevent miscarriage but there is no definitive therapy for it. Chromosomal abnormality, thryoid, diabetes etc problems may be ruled out. 85% of women continue with normal pregnancy and delivery after 1-2 miscarriage, so have confidence and trust.

leg problem

Posted by:

Samit

Hello sir

Ibprofein helps for a short while, but I need a permanent solution,so could you suggest why I might have lower leg pain and stiffness in both my legs while I start to run.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

If there is some internal injury, the permanent solution is surgery only. If you cann't afford it, avoid running and exertion for 3 weeks to give it a chance for natural healing. Drugs can only provide temporary relief.

Summary of Medical Question:

Very Ill Please Help - Liver not Functioning Properly

Posted by:

Marie

Hi. I am a 25year old female of average height and weight and for the past year and a half I have had a poor-functioning liver (revealed by blood tests). My doctor is not very open-minded and seems to go with his instincts and therefore all he has done is a lung test? and testing me for hepatitis every other week since (which i might add, has always been negative). I have severe pains in my left chest through to my back and left shoulder and armpit aswell which has been ignored as "I am too young for heart problems" as my doctor has put it. The pain in between my lower ribs in the centre and right is intense. My health and liver has declined rapidly and am lethargic and very unwell. I have ++protein in my urine at all times (brother has neuphrotic syndrome so have the strips), random "pressure' like pains in my arms/hands and my head - almost like a blockage feeling in my veins, and lately my hunger has spiralled out of control for last few weeks and feel like if i do not eat I would not move and my weight is fluctuating DAILY between the high end of my weight range (65kg) and low end where I am normally (54kg) though all on my stomach (every other day almost it looks like i am 9 months pregnant though im not pregnant).

My liver and chest problems started with pains in my legs while I was pregnant with our youngest son which then progressed to very painful attacks chest/liver which made me unable to move for anywhere up to 2 hours at worst. The pain was so unbearable sometimes I would vomit. I am at university studying law full time as well as 3 small children so I can not live like this much longer. And is taking a toll on my marriage.

Also In case this helps, Before this I was a very active person with my only problem aneamia every now and then which has been like that since childhood.
There is heart disease in my mothers side of the family and all the woman on my fathers side has passed away from leukemia (children up to the elderly).

Please, any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Marie, you may get thyroid function tests (blood test)- T3, T4 and TSH. For assessing the health of kidneys, you may get urine examination routine and microscopic. Serum creatinien, serum eletrolytes, ultrasonography may be required if any problem with urine. To rule out heart problem- ECG and treadmill test may be done. To rule out any blood disorder, complete blood count may be done. Also intimate if you are taking any drug. If any specific abnormality is identified through these tests, treatment may be given accordingly.

Do not run or exert for 3 weeks. If there is no relief then you have no option but to get it investigated (x ray or CT scan) and consult an orthopedic surgeon.

TINGLING SENSATIONS IN FINGERS

Posted by:

Jason Edkins

I have tingling sensations in my left hand in my little finger and ring finger i have had this for over 12 hours.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Jason, it could be due to some pressure on ulner nerve as a result of abnormal posture or cyst or bone spur over elbow or wrist or below collar bone. It is very likely to be alright on its own. If it persists, please get nerve conduction test done and if cyst is suspected MRI may be required. Consult a neurologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

vision problem

Posted by:

erika

I sometimes see something weird, like alot of white and black dots over my vision. One time it completely went over my vision and i couldnt see nonthing but white and black dots, and i was so scared i was shaking. what is this?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Erika, it could be vitreous floaters which dissolve or settle down over time or scotoma, which needs care. Scotoma could be due to an old injury, old viral infection and even an old injury from staring at sun. Comprehensive eye examination is needed- retina and fluorescein angiogram to study retinal blood supply and a visual field test to assess the size of spots. Please consult an ophthalmologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

leg problems

Posted by:

Samit

Hello Sir

You suggested that I may have a tear in my leg but is it possible that I may have the the same problem in both my legs simultaneously? And would a CT scan be helpful for that.It would be great if you could give me a definitive answer to the lower leg stiffness that I have while just running and I can not run after that.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Samit, tear in ligament is certainly a possibility but similar problem in both the legs is difficult to explain- a very rare situation. Please consult an orthopaedic surgeon. He can examine- assess the movements in all joints and palpate a tender point and make a provisional diagnosis and confirm it through appropriate investigation. You may also explore and see if a particular site is painful on deep pressure.
