Summary of Medical Question:

migraines and sore skull

Posted by:

tammy

I have been getting more and more migraines and now more skull is sore to touch on the top of my head.I feel dizzy and my eyes are failing.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Try anti-migrain drugs like sumatryptan. If there is no relief, please get a MRI brain done and refer to a neurologist.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

migraine can certainly cause sore skull. it is the muscles overlying the skull which are contracted and therefore painful. sometimes it's the pain, sometimes it's the migraine itself.
you could try ice packs and scalp massage. you'll be able to feel where the spasms are worst; feels like little lumps. muscles spasm and form knots. sometimes heat helps. a hot shower? i think massage is best with fingers or by gently brushing your hair.

Summary of Medical Question:

emphysema and body fluid

Posted by:

patrick preston

with emphysema ,does shortness of breath bring on excessive urination

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Patrick, emphysema and short breaths do not cause excessive urination. Diabetes does cause it. Please get blood sugar fasting and PP tested. If it is normal, get ultrasonography for prostrate done. For emphysema, stop smoking (if doing) and start breathing exercises.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

hi patrick. sometimes the medicines given for copd will stimulate the body and therefore also the kidneys. the medicines might be causing some temporary extra urination. also, doctors give diuretics to clear extra fluid from the body so that breathing becomes easier, if the heart is involved. check to see if you are taking a diuretic: that would explain it!!

Gillian, it could be viral infection of liver- hepatitis A or hepatitis B. Over dose of drugs like vitamin A or mutivitamin or some drugs can also cause it. Hbs Ag (Australia antigen) may be tested to rule out hepatitis and ultrasonography and liver biopsy may be required. For swelling face, kidneys are to be tested- urine examination- routine and microscopic, serum creatinine, blood urea etc. Please consult a pediatrician.

Summary of Medical Question:

Cant cum,but can get it up.

Posted by:

chris

What would be a reason why a man could not cum, He has no problem getting it up. But no big finish. And this has been going on for about two years...

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

If there is no problem in erection and no premature ejaculation, the problem is likely to be psychological. Give him a break. Try to find out what attracts him, what arouses him. Use the strategy accordingly.

Summary of Medical Question:

razor bump maybe

Posted by:

anonymous

okay i have a bump, just one, that pops up every once and awhile on my labia maybe because of shaving not sure. but my doctor has ruled out stds all together, she says its cyst and it will go away. but it keeps coming back, why is this and how can i stop it from coming back?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Foul smelling discharge, ulceration, swelling of glands in groin, pain or burning sensation while urinating, itching around vulva etc indicate STD/ STI. If there is no such symptom, observe the bump for 2 weeks, it should be alright. If any of above symptoms appear, consult a gynecologist/ veneriologist for proper diagnosis and treatment. Use precautions like condom to prevent transmission of any infection.

Hello , it's been 11 weeks before I had my next period, but sometimes it has taken 9 weeks before I was sexually active and everything was fine. The problem is that now that i finally started it is very light even though I'm on a heavy flowing day but theres no brown in it. I have taken 4 pregnancy test periodically throughout the 11 weeks. Is there anything you could suggest is wrong or do you think it is nothing?

Your question is not clear. However, if you are sure pregnancy test is negative, observe for 1- 2 cycles more. Occasional menstrual irregularies can be normal. Refer to a gynecologist if the problem continues.

Summary of Medical Question:

Mirgaine

Posted by:

Nameless

I have a very bad migraine sometimes. I first start to see sparkles, shiny things or I sometimes lose my vision. This remains for sometime and then one side of my head starts to hurt. This pain increases rapidly until it just becomes untolerable. Most times, I also can't remember things in that pain, to the extent that I can't recall my own name or names of people I know. This is causing me a lot of anguish and making my life miserable. Please suggest what i should do. There must be some cure for these kind of headaches?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Just want to say thanks for taking out time and replying. I appreciate it very much. i will go and speak to a physician and try some over the counter medicines.
Cheers
_____________________________________________________

you suffer from 'classic migraine', for which there is no actual cure. the good news is that are many ways to control the truly awful suffering you describe. here are some suggestions:
- read 'migraine' by oliver sacks. it is the history of migraine, various case histories, etc. educational.

-the trick with treating migraine is to take whatever measures/medications right away, as soon as you perceive a migraine coming on. in your case, as soon as you have visual symptoms. many people have even earlier warnings: i spend the day before feeling GREAT, full of undirected energy. the next day, i get sick.

-there are many over the counter medicines which help if taken very early. caffiene is an ingredient in most of them, and it would help if you could take strong tea. etc.

-when the migraine hits, many people retreat to a cool, dark, quiet bed with a cold cloth over the eyes. others find it beneficial to go ahead and vomit instead of fighting the nausea. others, like me, get very overly energetic and unable to relax or sleep. all are normal.

- it's worth it to see a physician to see if there are preventive meds for you or more effective pain medicine.

i am sorry this is so long but it all comes down to no one knows what causes them, they aren't fatal (though you may wish so whilst suffering) and each person is unique in presentation, symptoms, treatment.

Summary of Medical Question:

decayed/missing teeth on MRI/CT scan

Posted by:

julie

i have had atleast 12 migraines in teh past 5 weeks. they are all right behind my right eye. last year i went to the ER b/c i couldn't see out of my right eye and was very confused. last night i gotthe MRI/CT scan that was done a year ago to see the xrays for myself. there is a black "thing" behind my right eye on the CT and the MRI. i do have a missing tooth as well as a decayed tooth both on the right side of my mouth - would this show up in either of these scans? i'm hoping the black "thing" is the missing/decayed tooth.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Julie, it is difficult to interpret MRI images but you can read the report given by MRI expert/ radiologist. If you find difficulty in understanding technical terms, we can help you. In migrain generally MRI report is normal. You may try drugs like sumtryptan for pain.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

MRI's are very hard to interpret, esp. for the layman. please don't try it or you will surely freak out. only a doctor trained in interpretation can give you any answers. sounds like you have suffered long enough. call up your doctor and remember: you pay his/her salary, ultimately. so you don't have to be humble. get answers!
good luck.

Summary of Medical Question:

swollen feet

Posted by:

Albert

Please I need help. My feet is badly swollen. I have MS and heart problem. My heart is pumping to fast. In summer my feet get swollen just a little because of the heat, but now it's not summer. My feet is swollen very bad. Could it be that I have water.
Please help I appreciate.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Albert, when heart is not able to pump the blood properly, water starts accumulating in body. Generally in heart problems accumulation of water in the lungs cause difficulty in breathing. For swelling in legs, kidney function is to be investigated- urine examination, blood urea, creatinine, sugar etc need to be tested. Please consult a physician.

Summary of Medical Question:

skin rashes

Posted by:

khim

I started work at a library less than 2 weeks ago. In my 2nd week into the job, I started to itch in my hands and arm after handling some books and they disappear almost immediately however, after i got home and a warm shower later, more rashes appear and spread over my body into the night, they itch bad, sometimes i will have rashes developed around my lips and eyelids, all these subsides by mid-day or when i pop anti-histamin but the cycle will start again the following day. I suspect the books in the library are dusty as they have been stored for some time. My job needs me to handle them constantly and I fear I may be allergic to the dust collected in these books or around the library premises. Is there a permanent treatment for my condition other than to change another job?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Khim, in specialized dermatology departments, they try to identify exact allergen (chemical that causes allergy) by exposing you to known chemicals one by one. Once it is identified they try to desensitize you by gradully increasing the dose of that chemical. This entire process is very long and its success rate is very low. Take antihistaminics regularly before entering the library.
