Summary of Medical Question:

Acute mountain sickness

Posted by:

anonymous

Suffered HAPE 3yrs ago at ski field in denver usa. every time I fly more that 3 hours symptoms return. recently collapsed off a plane landed NZ from Australia. blood preessure 160 on 155.etc
symptoms occur even driving into an altitude town. oxygen on high flow for 5 hours helps settle main symptoms. Is there a solution? tried Diamox made me vomit

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Some people are very prone to high altitude sickness/ high altitude pulmonary oedema. In high altitude towns acclimatization should be done- raise the height gradually. Get adjusted to a height, stay there for 2-3 days, after you feel comfortable then only ascend further. Keep oxygen in readiness. In airplanes high altitude sickness does not occur as normal pressure and oxygen levels are maintained inside. Your problems may be due to a different reason - heart problem. Please get it investigated- ECG, treadmill test and Holters test may be done. Consult a cardiologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

Fordyce's spots swollen, or something else?

Posted by:

Anonymous

I decided to have my first pap smear on thusrday, then nothing was wrong but once swollen fordyce spot (after takeing 100's of thousands of pictures i believe thats what is it) but then after being paranoid and checking myself constantly feeling and pictures and mirrors, I began to burn for the first time ever. thats when I noticed more fordyce spots down near the vaginal opening. They have been swelling and going down, and the burning gets better everyday. They do not look like any picture of herpes I have seen, no bubble, no sore, no discharge and no problem other than burning and these swollen glands (i think). I just wanna be sure... I havn't had sex since may so i think i would of noticed an std sooner though I heard they can stay dormant but six months seems long to me... can anyone give me some piece of mind till thursday?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

You are very right sexually transmitted infections ( STIs) can remain dormant for months and even years. There is a definite need to rule out STIs in your case. Please get it examined by a gynecologist and get the tests done for syphlis, gonorrhoea, HIV, hepatitis B etc. Please take precautions in future to prevent STIs.
