I have been experiencing abnormal virginal bleeding for aprox 6 weeks , also abdominal pain , like period pains but more dull and achy , also lower back pain, which can be sharp and very painful

For complaints of execessive menstrual bleeding, we need to rule out problems of uterus like fibroid. Please get ultrasonography lower abdomen done and consult a gynecologist.

Can pleural effusion be treated with oral medication? I believe this is caused by pneumonia.

Summary of Medical Question:

Asymmetrical muscle hypertrophy

Posted by:

Kristen

Hello!

I've noticed that my left lower thigh, my left calf and left butt cheek feels heavier and bulkier immediately after swimming. I can feel and see a sizeable difference after an hour of swimming. There is only one side hypertrophy in all these 3 places.

Last week I also felt this in my left upper arm and lower arm. I can witness a sizeable difference there compared to my right side. (I am right handed and usually use my right hand to do everyday tasks.)

The left side of my tummy also feels "fatter" than my right. But I've always had that since adolescents. My worry is how it’s now spread to my arms, legs and butt cheek. This is very troublesome.

I feel as though my left side limb muscles are being over stimulated compared to my right side. My right side is slimmer and feels lighter. I don't feel any sensation on my right side after swimming. But there’s a lot of activity on my left side. Even as i type this.. I feel some sort of stimulation.. activity in my left arm, left butt cheek, left calf and left lower thigh. Please help!!

I've been swimming for about 6 months and it's only been these past 2 weeks where I've noticed these significant swimming induced symptoms.

I don't feel any pain at all just mild discomfort on my left side when I walk or stand as it feels "heavy and bulky". I'm very self conscious about this.

I've been diagnosed with very mild scoliosis before. Last week I felt some slight discomfort with the nerves/ muscles around the thoracic spine. Right now.. it's around the cervical spine area. There's some discomfort activity there.
Is my spine perhaps pressing on some nerve which may cause some under stimulation in one side? Is my swimming posture wrong? Do I have a herniated disc? Is it because of my scoliosis? I am 22 and according to my doctor the scoliosis shouldn’t get any worse as I’ve stopped growing.
Are there ways which I can induce left sided atrophy?
Please help restore my symmetry. I’m getting really anxious and depressed about this!!
Thank you very much! I hope you can assist me.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

There is no way to induce atrophy. Take regular exercises to strengthen the weaker muscles. Please consult a physiotherapist.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

This is still Kristen..

*correction

I know feel sensation/ activity in my lumbar spine regions (not in the cervial spine as stated above).

Thank you very much in advance for your kind assitance!

Summary of Medical Question:

abdominal pain

Posted by:

yamsaharny

hi.
i am female 25 yrs.i have been having abdominal pain for more than 3 years , nausea and sometimes diarrhea n vomiting. last year i did endoscopy and colonoscopy, and my results were partial villous atrophy (crypt hyperplastic pattern) for the duodenal biopsy and partial villous atrophy with dense lymphoid infiltrate for ileal biopsy also unequivocal features of immunoproliferative small intestinal diseases were not seen.the doctor said it might be celiac disease,so i was done blood test and the anti endomysium and anti gliadin results were both negative. so one doctor told me i have ibs and the other told me its celiac disease.which one is right?
and what should i do?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Both IBS and celiac diasese are similar. Take small diets, avoid milk products. Secondly take probiotics - lactobacilli preparations regularly. With precautions and probiotics this condition can remain within control even though it is not cured.

Summary of Medical Question:

period after bilateral oophorectomy

Posted by:

Darla Hildebrand

I had both ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in October, 2009 and am now having period like vaginal bleeding and cramping. Should I be concerned?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

After bilateral oophrectomy there is surgical menopause- no menstruation. However, if hormone replacement therapy is given, bleeding is possible. In your case if no hormones are being administered, bleeding is a matter of concern. Diseases of uterus need to be excluded like fibroid. Please consult a gynecologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

Flu that won't go away

Posted by:

Anonymus

I don't have allergies and I have been sick for nearly two weeks now. I think it's a cold or flu. I have a hacking cough that started three weeks ago and recently I have started to cough up phelgm. I also have a really runny nose and I have to blow my nose frequently. My muscus is thick and heavy (if you get what I mean) and I am using a handkerchief because Kleenex sometimes isn't strong enough. (I blow and I blow and I blow but there always seems to be more.) Should I carry on using a handkerchief? I also have a fever that goes up and down and I throw up occasionally. This sickness started as a bad cough and a slight sniffle and an occasional noseblow, so I thought it was probably a cold. How can I determine between the flu and a cold? I don't usually see a doctor for colds or the flu, but should I make an appoitment in this case?
My husband is always bringing home germs. He catches sicknesses from his students at the university. For example, last year he caught a bad cold, so after sleeping with him coughing and sneezing over me for a few nights, I also came down with a serious cold. I sleep with him in the same bed, so is catching sicknesses from him unavoidable?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Flu and common cold are same. They are generally self limiting in a week or so. If the condition is not improving, if it is deteriorating, if there is fever, if the phlegm becoms thick or yellow, if there is difficulty in breathing- any of these signs indicate the need to take medication. You need antibiotic- amoxycillin plus calavulanic acid 625mg twice daily for 5 days (adult dose). Take regularly citrous fruits- lemon, orange, sweet lemon, amla etc and secondly take regular exercise- jogging, skipping etc that force rapid breathing. Consult a physician.

Summary of Medical Question:

Spread of flu bug

Posted by:

Anonymus

I have five kids aged 6-12. There has been a flu bug lately at our house. A month ago, my oldest child caught it from a friend at school, and since then all my kids except my youngest one has had the flu. Last week I caught it and I am still very sick now. I have a fever and I threw up yesterday. My nose is runny and swollen and I sneeze and wheeze a lot. I blow my nose frequently with a handkerchief. I don't want to spread my germs to my youngest kid because he has always been sickly. He caught a cold when he was younger, and that progessed to pnuemonia. What can I do? I have close contact with my kids, so is it unavoidable? There's also something I noticed. Once somebody in our family is sick, everyone gets sick later on. I teach my children to wash their hands, have good hygiene, and they do it, but they always refuse to blow their nose. They just wipe it off with the back of their hands or with a hanky. They don't care about these things. What should I do when one of my kids get sick to prevent them from spreading germs to others? (I have tried forcing them to wear masks. It doesn't work. They keep them on, but they take them off when they sneeze or cough.)

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Give them fresh vegetables and fruits especially citrous fruits- lemon, organge, sweet lemon, amla etc. regularly in the diet. Secondly, encourage them to take strenuous exercises- jogging, running, cycling, skipping etc that forces rapid breathing. Your children are all in growing age and they will soon develop immunity to counter common cold type of illnesses.
