Summary of Medical Question:

IUD Ectopic Pregancy Abdominal Pain

Posted by:

Jen

I have recently (about 1 month ago) had my IUD removed by my gynecologist because it was expelling itself. This was about 2 weeks into my menstrual cycle at that point and my doctor told me to use another method of birth control until my next period when another IUD could be placed or I could start BCP. She also said that the IUD may not have been effective in the location where it was before she removed it and that I should take a pregnancy test. I took one that day and it was negative but I was not sure if it would be accurate due to not having been near my next period. I began to notice at this point a constant pressure-like pain in my upper left abdomen which I saw my family doctor for about a week or so later. He put me on Prevacid to see if it would help...it did not help. At this point he also ordered blood tests that came back normal and included in this was a pregnancy test that was also negative...this would have been probably the week before I was due for a period. I then saw him again a week and a half later as a follow up and he ordered an abdominal ultrasound which was normal and the only notes being that parts of my pancreas were not visable. A few days after this I should have had my period and did not and I took another pregancy test...it was POSITIVE! I saw my gynecologist a day later and have just had the second of two blood draws to check the progress of the pregnancy. I don't have these results yet but am seeing my doc again tomorrow. I am very scared that I have an ectopic pregnancy with all this abdominal pain and now the pregnancy test results but the doctors say my pain is too high for that. What can I do to help get this solved as soon as possible? Should I keep the pregnancy if this abdominal pain is not resolved and not related? I can't sleep with it now and can't imagine what it would be like as the pregancy would continue.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Your concern is very genuine. Repeat ultrasound need to be done to diagnose pregnancy and rule out ectopic pregnancy. In case it is ectopic, it need to be terminated immediately. Please consult an obstetrician in a hospital.

Summary of Medical Question:

vitamin D deficient and pregnant

Posted by:

marie

I have a vitamin d deficiency and i am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant.I was prescribed 50,000 iu 2x a week before I became pregnant.I am very worried and dont want any harm done to the baby because of this and I need to know how much vitamin d a day I can take that is safe for the baby.I will be buying it over the counter most likely but i may possibly get the prescription if needed.also how long will it take to get back to normal without the vit d deficeintcy? Please help I am really stressed about this and I know its bad for the baby.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Osteoporosis or presumably vitamin D deficiency is very common among women. There is no need to worry. I would suggest you to take natural food that are rich in vitamin D like milk, fresh fruits, green vegetables, eggs and meat products. You can avoid vitamin preparations.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

It is likely that you are vitamin D deficient because the baby is using it all. You just need to continue healthy eating habits and the baby will be fine. Just be sure that you are taking a pre-natal vitamin as well because the folic acid in these pills will prevent a very serious illness in the baby(spina bifida) at least 400mg, that is the only thing I would really be worried about if I were you.

Summary of Medical Question:

an std accident

Posted by:

haeylry

i just found out that i have chlymidia. i think that i had this std when i was pregnant. and i breast feed for four months . i am realy concerned embarassed and ashamed but i think my son might have it know. he is not where he needs to be verbally .please help

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Clamydia is not necessarily transmit from mother to baby. Especially breast feeding does not transmit it. It can be treated easily. The problem of your child may not be related to this. Please consult a veneriologist/ dermatologist for the treatment of clamydia. And consult a pediatrician for the problem of your baby.

Summary of Medical Question:

hypothyroid

Posted by:

sudhasrees

I have been diagnoised with thyroid as hypothyroid with TSH 9.71 and t3 and t4 being normal. i have been treated with eltroxin 50 mcg 1 tablet a day for 2 months. i had taken and then stopped for 7 days and took the test again for TSH. now it is 23. what does it signify

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Eltroxin may have to be continued life long. Please do not discontinue it on your own. Please start it again and then repeat TSH again after a week. The dose of eltroxin may have to be adjusted by repeating the tests. Please consult an endocrinologist.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

This signifies that you need to reduce the dosage but don't ever STOP taking it. You will likely have a hypothyroid and will need to adjust the dosage often. You should be getting it checked at least once or twice a year just to make sure your levels are good. If you become pregnant you will also need to increase your dosage as the fetus does not have a thyroid & will require thyroxine, a normal person's thyroid automatically produces more thyroxine to compensate but your thyroid may not be able to keep up. Please make sure you just keep getting tested because it WILL fluctuate.
