Summary of Medical Question:

chest pressure, dizziness, confusion

Posted by:

brandy

I'm a 22 year old female. I have been experiencing problems since last december that have only escalated since then. I have constant chest pressure as if someone is sitting on it. I have frequent dizziness and trouble thinking straight, to the point where sometimes I forget what im doing or what I just did. I also have frequent blurred vision and the feeling of almost passing out. At times my heart beats rapidly or irregularly. I have a bit of chest cngestion but not too bad. I have a constant feeling of being disoriented. A few timesa day I get a sudden stabbing pain in my chest in the sternum and just below the breatbone on my left side. On a side note, I don't know if this is related to my problem but my hair is falling out dramatically. I have always had nice strng thick hair and it is now thin and brittle and falling out rapidly. I don't have insurance so I thought I'd try here first.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Your symptoms are not typical and would require thorough investigations to diagnose the problem. In the intial stage- x-ray chest PA view, ECG, echocardiography, complete blood count, blood sugar are required. Please get these investigations done and consult a physician with the reports.

Summary of Medical Question:

streptococus pnuemoniae

Posted by:

Paul S.

My 35 month old son was diagnosed with an ear infection this past May that was unresponsive to two different oral antibiotics. He had no illnesses up to that point, and a healthy boy other than not being able to speak as well as someone his age. He had started attending a day care when his symptoms presented themselves. His right ear eventually ruptured the ear drum, and spread to the bone behind his right ear. He was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery, and diagnosed with mastitus. At the hospital his blood culture came back positive for streptococus pnuemoniae. The surgery and antibiotics were sucessful and he was discharged after four days in the hospital. His long term problem, however, has been constant coughing, nasal discharge of yellow and green mucos, accompanied by a fever of 100-103 since April of this year, and it is now July. Even after all the IV antibiotics he was given at the hospital, he was still coughing when we were discharged. Although the fever had been absent since coming home from the hospital, last night he began running a temperture again of 101. He is basically back to square one with the original symptoms of a cough, nasal blockage, mouth breathing and fever after four months. My ENT surgeon saw him today, and recommended removal of his adenoids in about two weeks. I feel fine with that, because he has a lot of the symptoms associated with enlarged adenoids. But should I be more concerned about the possibility the streptococus is still active in his body ? Meningitis, and the other fatal disease where it enters the blood stream scares me to death. He went to bed tonight, and last night, with a 101 degree fever. If he were your son, would you take any additional precautionary measures between the time of his adenoids surgery in two weeks and right now? Hope to get some Md's to comment on this for me. For the record he has also been taking singulair and other allergy medicines with almost no effect. He also has a inhaler for his nasal passages, and that doesn't work either. I have a card board box in my kitchen with strictly his medicine in it. I feel overwhelmed, but will do everything I can for my little man. Please help !! Paul.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

He has some chronic and resistant infection. In such a situation, I would advise culture and sensitivity test of his blood (repeated), sputum and nasal secretions. Secondly, he may be admitted to a hospital and given new/ third generation injectable antibiotics. Antibiotics would be changed based on the reports of repeated cultures. I believe he needs aggressive antibiotic treatment. Please take second opinion from an ENT specialist who works in a tietiary care hospital setting.

Summary of Medical Question:

Popping of knee cap

Posted by:

keegan axtell

so i recently hurt my left leg and it had been immobilized for a couple weeks. my patella makes a shifting/popping noise, as if it is rub or hitting something when i bend it. what could it be?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Normal patela can also move and make 'click' sound in particular movements of knee. If there is no pain or restriction of movement, you may ignore it and start quadriceps exercises to strengthen muscles of the knee. A physiotherapist can coach you the exercises.

Summary of Medical Question:

my penis is shorter after circumcision

Posted by:

sphamandla

i was circumcised 3 weeks ago and my penis is badly shorter than it was before yhe operation i m stressed please help me get out of this mess. what should i do?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

In circumcision only the skin that covers glans penis is cut. The shaft of the penis which has muscles and blood vessles is not touched. So there is no need to worry. The size of penis keeps changing on its own. When you are sexually aroused, try masturbation. I am sure you will be convinced that the size of your penis is not reduced.

Summary of Medical Question:

Yeast Infection on hood of clitoris?

Posted by:

Lilah

I had some pain on my clitoris area and when I examined, I found what looked like a scab. I washed that area and found that after washing there was a white cheese like substance under the hood of my clitoris. when I pushed down on my clitoris to get a better look, the white substance came out, completely (as far as I could tell). I recleaned the area and it is still painfull and bleeding lightly. Is this just a yeast infection on my clitoris hood or is it something worse? Will OTC yeast infection meds cure it?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

It seems to be yeast. take clotramzole vaginal pills to be put deep in vagina and ointment for local application. In future take precautions against unprotected sex as some of the sexually transmitted infections like HIV, hepatitis B are not curable. Consult a gynecologist if it is not cured in a week.

Summary of Medical Question:

Am I pregnant?

Posted by:

Anisha

I am 36, had unprotected sex 2 weeks ago (2 days after my period) 6 times. Even though he pulled out each time, can I be pregnant? For the past 4 days, I have lost my appetite, feeling sick throughout the day and very tired - all I want to do is sleep. Please help

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

One week before and one week after menstruation is safe period when conception does not take place. If you are not very sure about the period and timing of sex, please test your urine for pregnancy. Home test kits are available but it takes few weeks to show positive results. Blood test can give immediate results. If in doubt, it would be advisable to consult a gynecologist.
