Summary of Medical Question:

Help Skipping Periods

Posted by:

Sarah

Hi! I'm on Sprintec birth control, which doses the same amount of hormones throughout the cycle. I'm trying to skip my period at the end of this pack, and I want to do it right. I've tried before and I've always managed to skip it for that week, but then it winds up lasting for 2 or sometimes 3 weeks after. Help!

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

It is not advisable to skip periods. Let the things happen natural way. If you are determined to skip periods, then injectable depot provera is the solution. If you take these injections regularly, you will not get mentrual bleeding.

Answer by voluntary user(s)

That's not a great answer. I've read in several places that it's not a problem.

post pill hormone problems

Posted by:

clare wood

Hi
I'm 30 and came off the pill a year ago after 5 years to try for a baby. I had problems for a long while with irregular periods which the doctors said was hormonal. My periods are still irregular and becoming more heavy and painfull. i I have also started getting spots which I have never had before and i'm finding it harder to loose wieght. The doctor said they did not think it was PCOS but Is all this normal after a year?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Hormonal imbalance is not likely to continue so long after stopping oral contrceptive pills. It would be advisable to get ultrasonography lower abdomen/ pelvic done to rule out any uterine problem. Please consult a gynecologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

Knee injury

Posted by:

Ariel

Do i have a knee injury? I was jumping a brick obstacle and i made it but i hit my knee. It didn't hurt so i kept jumping things. But when i stopped my knee started hurting i locked it and it didn't want to come back but nothing major it did come back. I felt like if had gotten stuck, it kept hurting but i didn't do anything about, so i went to sleep. That was yesterday, now today i did some work and was on it all day, i did some running and jumped some more but when i landed i felt like ants on the left part of my knee. It hurts a bit when i walk and it feels weird it pops a lot, and i sat down and got up and the top part popped, i am a bit afraid, what should i do?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

There could be injury to ligament / tendon in the knee joint. You need to immobilize it for about 3 weeks with a knee cap or crepe bandage. If the pain does not disappear totally in 2 days, x-ray knee- AP and lateral views are recommended and orthopedic surgeon's consultation should be sought.

Summary of Medical Question:

do you think i am pregnant

Posted by:

Anonymous

i am 19 years old.I started my period when i was in 6th grade. My periods have been normal (for me) and regular lasting about 7-8 days. But about 2 months ago my period started lasting 11-12 days. And it wasnt as heavy as normal. My period after that lasted 12 days aswell. A little more heavy but not much. Then my last period i just had lasted 19 days. It was a nomal period for me at first. After the 10th day i started spotting. When i would use the restroom sometimes there would be just a little blood. sometimes nothing at all, sometimes a bright red but just a little, then other times it was a thick brown/black color. I have been a lot more tired latley, hungry, moody, emoational, bloated, sore nipples, dizzy, sick but never throw up just feel like it. People tell me im pregnant but every test i take is negative. What do you think?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Home test kits take a couple of weeks to turn positive in case of pregnancy. One option is to repeat tests every week for few weeks. Second option is to get blood tested for pregnancy (HCG). That is more definitive. Thirdly, your menstruation is abnormally heavy. It should be investigated and problems like uterine fibroid, endometriosis etc need to be ruled out. Please get ultrasonography lower abdomen done and consult a gynecologist.

arm infultrated

Posted by:

Louise

While i WAS IN THE HOSPITAL A NURSE INFULTRATED MY ARM AND IT BLUE UP FIVE TIMES IT SIZE. i ASKED THE NURSE TO TAKE OUT THE IV SHE SAID SHE WAS BUSY AND WOULD BE BACK. fINALLY AFTER SCREAMING ABOUT HOW MUCH IT HURT SHE TOOK IT OUT. SINCE THEN I HAVE LITTLE OR NO USE IN THAT ARM. GET NUMBNESS, PAIN TINGLING NO STRENGHT

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Due to leakage of IV fluid in your arm this problem is caused. The fluid is likely to be absorbed in few weeks and then it will be alright. Hot saline fomentation and apllication of thrombophob ointment may be helpful.

Neuro

Posted by:

cocoaliyah

Regarding my earlier post. Maybe I wasn't clear.I have consulted counsellors and psychotherapy and psychiatry. They all think it is an internal medicine issue. Seizures?delerium? HIV dementia from discontinuing HAART? Or are there other possibilities. You don't go from working full time, training daily, being happy, confident and compassionate to not being able to photocopy a price of paper because it's too confusing, not being able to read and missing 7 hours of your day. There are no medical issues that can cause this type of cognitive impairment?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Sorry, I am not able to visualize and understand your problem. Please get yourself examined by a physician. Thorough history taking is required.
