Summary of Medical Question:

Pregnancy

Posted by:

Gwen

I am pregnant and the doctor says I am around 18 weeks. I am trying to figure out my conception date. The first day of my last period was March 28th. My sonograms and my doctor says I am about 18 weeks. I thought I concieved around April 12th but that would mean I would be around 16 weeks. The only other time I had sex was March 26th but I had my period and he used protection. Which conception date is more accurate? I need help!

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

It is difficult to predict the exact date of conception. Generally we start counting the date from the first day of last menstrual period. Ultrasonography can give 1 week +_ of the age of gestation. Life of sperms is considered to be 7 days.

Summary of Medical Question:

HPV

Posted by:

Anonymous

I actually have 2 questions in regards to HPV.

1) If someone smokes, will the (low-risk) HPV virus still go into a doormat state? Will it take longer? etc. I have read many scare tactics that say only someone who is a 'perfectly' healthy non-smoker will be able to "fight off" or put the virus into a doormat state.

2) Can someone with HPV still donate blood and organs? I ask because from what I understand HPV is not transmittable through blood.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

HPV is a zexually transmitted infection. I think there is danger of transmission through body fluids or blood. Smoking reduces the capacity of the body to form antibodies against HPV.

Summary of Medical Question:

Medical abortion help -UK

Posted by:

Rach

Hi, sorry to bother you!

My names Rachael, and I stress far too much about everything. I'm having my first (and only believe me) medical (pill) abortion tomorrow but I'm terrified as me and my partner had sex unprotected yesterday as I had only found out I was pregnant the day before and i was all up and down emotionally. I thought I would need suction but I'm only 4 weeks so they gave me pill one yesterday and I have the horrible bit tomorrow. However I'm terrified that as sperm lives for 7 days inside you that after the abortion I'll still get pregnant again. Is there any chance at all this could happen? Is there anything I can do? Shall I wait for the sperm to be dead before taking the second pill?

I'm sorry! I'm so scared.

Rach

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Please do not worry. Take the second dose of drug as advised and go for medical abortion. There is absolutely no chance of you getting pregnant again due to earlier unprotected sex. I am sure you take care in future.

my period was 2 days late lasted for 3 days and was very light. i took a test a day or 2 after it ended and it said negative. could that of been a false negative? ive also noticed i have small pink and purple like stretch marks under my breast around my areola and my breast have seemed to of gotten bigger in like the last week or so ive also gained weight but i have been eating alot and have been eating alot of junk food. could i be pregnant, should i take another test and when?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

If it was menstrual bleeding, pregnancy is unlikely. But if you feel other symptoms of pregnancy, it would be advisable to get pregnancy test done. Home pregnancy test generally take couple of weeks to show positivity. You may repeat test every week for 3-4 times. A better option is blood test (hCG) for pregnancy. It is more relaible. It gets positive in 10- 12 days after fertilization.

Leisa

x ray report,
please explain what is ment (in simple terms)under the "impression" field that reads
Multilevel lower troracic and mid lumbar spine degenerative disc disease without malalignment or compression deformity. thank you in advance for any answers.
Leisa

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

With the advancing age our bones tend to degenrate. This is a normal process, happens in everybody- fast in some and slow in others. The x-ray show degenration of spinal cord bones. However their shape is still maintained and therefore pressure on the spinal cord (menifested by back ache) is unlikely.
