Summary of Medical Question:

heat exhaustions permanent damage

Posted by:

ttodd

I am 33 yrs. old. I am a relief driver for a very big delivery co. The van I deliver in has no air or ventilation. I have been diagnosed with heat exhaustion 3 times in the last 2 yrs. Now, everytime I have to work on a hot day, I start vomiting profusely when I get even the slightest overheated. Could I have a permanent side effect from the heat exhaustion? My company sent me home on Wednesday & told me to go to my family doctor...that they don't beleive its work related to the intense heat. My van has had temps of 130' when it was 108 outside. Please help?

stomach

My tubes are tied, they have been tied for almost two years and i only have one ovary. My stomch is round and hard. i have slight breastmilk, lightperiods and i feel little flutters in my abdomen. My pregnancy test came out negative. What can these symptoms be?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Observe for 4 weeks more. It could be gas/ flatulance. Try probiotic/ lactobacilli prepration for better digestion. Secondly, take pregnancy test every week for couple of weeks as home tests kits take few weeks to show positivity. In rare circumstance tubal ligation fails and tubes join together. Blood test for pregnancy (hCG) is more reliable and is done in a pathology laboratory.

Summary of Medical Question:

Vomiting

Posted by:

Rachel Arellano

I have a 7 year old don and i noticed that he hs been vomiting after he eats. But it's only some times and i noticed that its usually when he has something containing dairy. I am his mother and i was diagnosed with hep c in 2004 and i had him tested and he was negative but i wonder if he is lactose intolerance are if he could be a sign of hep c.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Hepatitis B and C transmit through blood or body fluids so there is hardly any scope of its transmission from you to your son. However, it can be ruled out by blood tests. If there is lactose intolerance, evrey time after taking milk product, he will feel discomfort with bloating abdomen and loose motions. Still you can stop giving him milk products for one month and see the results. Secondly you can give him probiotic/ lactobacilli preparations that help in digestion.

Dear Doctor
I had un-protected sex with my girl friend on 30th July. From last Sex after two days on 1st Aug I had a little pain on the tip of penis during urine, and the tip of penis is little swollen and I have a small stinging sensation in the tip of penis when I urinate and small amount of white thin liquid come out only about a drop few times a day. What could this be, is it infection and what its treatment is.
Thank you.
dongabonga@ymail.com

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

It is a sexually transmitted infection which could be gonorrhoea or something else. Urine and white discharge can be tested in a laboratory to diagnose it. If you have problem in accessing a lab, you may take a course of capsule amoxycillin plus clavulanic acid 625 mg thrice daily for 7 days. Be careful to observe the symptoms for few months. If there is any symptom or relapse, consult a dermatologist/ physician and get it properly diagnosed and treated. Your girl friend should also be treated simultaneously. In future be careful, do not have unprotected sex. Condoms can prevent STIs.

Summary of Medical Question:

missed period negative pregnacy test

Posted by:

Leslie

I have a very regular monthly cycle and ever since starting my periods I have never skipped a month. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for the last 7 months. My period is 3 days late with no signs of starting soon. I have taken 2 pregnancy test which both have come up negative. What should I do?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Urine pregnancy tests take a couple of weeks to show positivity. Since you desire pegnancy, please wait and repeat the tests every week. If you are very keen to know the result, blood test can be done in a laboratory for pregnancy (hCG) which is more reliable.

Hello Sir,

About 1 months ago, I experienced pain&burning after having intercourse. Typically I have pain/burning the first time, but then the pain tends to go away or diminish after 10-20 minutes. I am a 34-year-old male. I have no pain otherwise.

Please advice what is the probable causes for this and treatment.

Thanks

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

If penis is not fully erect and forceful efforts are made for intercourse, it may cause pain. Try drug like viagra or megalis for better erection. Secondly infection in prostrate or seminal vesicle can also cause burning sensation or blood in semen. In that case consult a urologist for investigation and treatment.

Summary of Medical Question:

Pink eye/Wont go away

Posted by:

Mark

I have had pink eye or what doctors believe is pink eye for like 3 weeks now. My first perscription was Tobamycin which i used for 3 days and it got worse. Then went back to doctor and was given Garasone which i used for about 5 days. Then went back again and doctor re-prescribed Garasone and told me to take every 4 hours instead of 3 times a day and to also take it with reactine. Which ive been doing for about a week now and its not getting better. Also been disinfecting everything in my house daily with lysol.

So my question is, is there anything that is stronger that i can ask my doctor for instead of getting the same med over and over with no results. The Garasone did help with the itchy/grit feeling in my eyes a bit but the redness is still there in both eyes, and so are the discharges.

Or is there any possible home cure/ please help this is been on going since July 20/10 starting to lose hope.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Redness in the eyes could be due to infection/ conjunctivitis or glaucoma. Conjunctivities gets cured in a week or so. Galucoma means pressure of fluid in the eye ball is raised. It generally causes pain also in eyes/ headache. It could be glaucoma and if it is glaucoma, garasone, a steroid can be very dangerous. Please immediately stop garasone eye drops and consult a proper qualified ophthalmologist. Eye ball pressure should be checked and accordingly treatment can be given. Please take it seriously.

Summary of Medical Question:

pediatric - sepsis

Posted by:

kavitha

my two month old male child developed fever for seven days and on 7th day developed few episodes of mild fits ( shaking either of his hands), was admitted in hospital (for 12 days), was given gardenal, epsolin as IV injection for 3 days and changed to phenydin, gardenal as oral drops for rest of the days by neurologist. Besides this, pedriatrician were giving piptaz, amikacin, fortum, ranindine, azom, targocid as IV injection with digene and zincovit syrups for all those days. no recurrence of seizures and fever post admission to hospital till 5th day. then low grade of fever recurred regularly. my child was kept in CCU for first 3 days and shifted to pediatric ward ( which was unhygienic), fever spiked 2 days after that shift, as we suspected it as cross infection shifted to seperate room, my child developed mild petechia and on 8th day stomach distention with heptopsplenomegaly and on 13th day developed tachycardia and tachypnea and was cyanosed with poor pulses. when started CPAP developed massive pulmonary bleed . child had profuse tracheal bleed and pulseless activity and cardiac arrest. CPR done and child resuscitated. started with adrenaline and dopamine IV infusion. blood, cryoprecipitate and platelet transfusion given. Blood gas showed severe metabolic acidosis and chest x-ray showed white out lungs. Echo showed dilated left ventricle with moderate dysfunction and ejection fraction of 40%. dobutamine was started.my child continued with very poor prognosis and withing few hours died. We were not educated about the critical condition of the child, before it happen. still now we were not given solid dianogsis, suspected to be sepsis. Will this sudden outcome emerge overnight or all of a sudden? did the treatment was in the right direction? why this sudden death occured? kindly answer me as my heart aches of pain and tears.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Your babay had some infection that entered her brain (meningitis, encephalitis) when she had fits. Strong and appropriate antibitovs were given to control the infection. Most of organisms got killed and she recovered temporarily. But perhaps some organisms still remained in her body and within few days they multipled and attacked other organs of the body (septicemia) when fever appeared again. When natural immunity of an individual is weak, hospital environment has lots of germs who are very resitant to antibiotics, enter the body of patient and complicate the condition. Once the infection enters the brain and multiple orgns, the prognosis becomes very very poor. No doubt, our hospital environments are poor but in such cases there is not much medical professionals could have done. We are very sorry for your loss. May GOD give you strength to bear this loss.
