Summary of Medical Question:

one swollen vaginal lip

Posted by:

lizzie

I woke up two days ago with one swollen vaginal lip. It is a little painful. I just got off my period. What is this and what do I do?
I have never had a yeast infection so I'm not sure if this is one. There is no itching, just one lip is significantly larger than the other one. Please help.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

It is some infection, may be sexually transmitted infection (STI). Take a course of antibiotic- tablet ciprofloxacillin 500 mg twice daily for 5 days. If it is not totally cured, please get it checked by a gynecologist. Secondly in future take precautions against STIs. Condoms can protect from STIs.

Summary of Medical Question:

CAD

Posted by:

ALOK PODDAR

My father had CAD and he undergone for CABG in 2001at AIIMS . He had again reblockage in veins grafted in 2003. Since then, he is on medication but now he does not feel good and suffered with angina pain and so feel need for any procedure like PTCA.

My question is that is it safe to do angioplasty in grafted veins or old blocked arteries ? What's the percentage of risk of life and the success rate?

He is also suffering with having stone in Gal Bladder and have been adviced for surgery.

For which treatment, sholud we go first ? For Gal Stone or cardiac. ?

Thanks and awaiting early response

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Cardiac problem is a priority. If the coronary artereies are blocked, angioplasty or bypass has to be done. After a couple of years, there is often reblockage. If so, the process need to be repeated. Gall stone can be removed any time afterwards.

Summary of Medical Question:

Generalized internal itching

Posted by:

Amanda

I am a 29 year old female who has had generalized internal itching for 4 1/2 years now. I am extremely frustrated. My last bloodwork tests were done on 12/09/10. I no longer have insurance so I cannot continue to see my GP. My GP is an Internist and she has done many tests on me. I have had a CT of my belly and pelvis, Chest X-Ray, and bloodwork that came back normal. She has sent me to a Hematologist who took more bloodwork which came back normal. Hematologist ran an LDH test which came back withing range 366 (313-618). My GP sent me to a Dermatologist as well as an Allergist. The Allergist has me on Allegra 180mg. Back in October of 2009 I experienced some swelling in my lower lip, left side of my face and some hives. My GP gave me a coritisone shot and then the Allergist presc me 2 epi pens just incase I have that problem again. I am just so darn frustrated. I have read on the internet that generalized internal itching can preceed a systemic illness such as lymphoma. My doctor's keep telling me there is nothing wrong with me. All my tests have come back normal. I know bloodwork cannot dx lymphoma but will show if anything is abnormal. I just have this feeling deep down that I'm not ok. Stress doesn't help. The only symptoms I experience besides the generalized internal itching is maybe some fatigue. The fatigue is not bad (mostly because of lack of sleep). The itching only occurs during the DAY and NOT at night. Does that matter though? The itching feels like a burning sensation sometimes. My Allergist did presc Allegra 180mg which slightly helps with the itch. The itch is not to the point were I am drawing blood. Gold Bond Menthal lotion does give me some relief for about 1/2 an hour. Am I crazy? I know I just need to relax more and not stress out about it. Do you think it could be or lead to lymphoma?
Thank you !
Amanda

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

If blood sugar, liver function tests, HIV test are normal, you need not worry. It could be ideopathic pruritus, for which there is no reason and no definite therapy. Take the problem supportingly and lead a normal life, you will not have any compications.

Summary of Medical Question:

vomiting yellow liquid, earache, lightheaded

Posted by:

Cris

When i brush my teeth i throw up some yellow like fluids. I had nothing to eat only the dinner i had last night. The other two days i had the same feeling but i was vomiting clear fluids like water. Today i went to tennis practice and i threw up again. I did have a small bowl of cereal. I mostly threw up the water i drank. While i was at practice i started have and earache on both ears, and it doesn't hurt now. Right now i feel really dehydrated, tired, lightheaded, and i feel like vomiting as well.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

If you ate something that was not healthy, it could be infection in your stomach for which you may take tablet norfloxacillin 400 mg twice daily for 3 days. Take plenty of fluids or electrolyte solution. If it is not cured, you need to get blood tested to rule out hepatitis. In that case, please consult a physician.

Summary of Medical Question:

herpes

Posted by:

jane doe

I went to the doctor and has a culture done for HSV. My doctor was so sure that the rash that I had was herpes that he immediately put me on valtrex. I began taking the medication before my test results came back. I'm still waiting for my results but since taking valtrex I have been developing little red bumps on my arms and back. I honestly do not think that I have herpes but I took the medication just as a preventive method. Is it possible that the tiny bumps are a possible side effect of valtrex

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

It is good to start drug for herpes as early as possible for better results. After the lab report, wiser decision can be taken. If you are in doubt, please take a second opinion from another dermatologist.
