Summary of Medical Question:

Hiatal Hernia

Posted by:

bob

I believe i have a hiatal hernia. My grandmother has one, and my older sister and i both have the same very painful issues she does from this issue. I have read about massages that could help to bring the stomach back down from were it is in the diaphragm so i have tried this. I also tried taking a deep breath then pressing the soft spot right below the breast bone, then pressing down and releasing the air. It seemed to help for a few mins, but it seems when i press that area with a deep breath in, it gives me a somewhat sharp pain in my throat. What could cause this pain?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Please get ultrasound abdomen done to diagnose the hiatus hernia. Endoscopy may also be done to rule out peptic ulcer. If it is hiatus hernia, it can be fixed by surgery. Please consult a gastroentrologist/ physician.

I had intercoarse on july 16,2010 and i start bleeding like it could of been a period the next day. On August 13 i start spotting, and the next day i start cramping and bleeding more heavier. Is it a possiblility that a woman could still be pregnant?

It seems to be mentrual bleeding. If it is normal menstrual bleeding, pregnancy is not possible. Pregnancy cause stoppage of menstruation.

Summary of Medical Question:

chronic shoulder pain

Posted by:

kerry mccarthy

My mother has chronic shoulder pain and and fibromyalia and has tried tylenol 3 without success and is now trying dalaudid. She hasn't taken any tylenol 3 for about a month and takes 2mg of dalaudid as needed for pain. Sometimes every 3 to four hours but sometimes she can go longer inbetween depending on the pain. Some days are better than others. She has recently had 2 urine tests. The first time neither tylenol 3 or dalaudid showed up and the second time tylenol3 showed up even though she hasnt taken any for about a month and dalaudid still hasnt shown up in her urine even though she is taking them every day. The doctor says she isnt taking them Can you help us understand why it wouldnt show up and how we can help ourselves. What steps can we take to show her she is taking them?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Every drug cannot be identified in urine. May be dalaudid contains paracetamol that was detected in urine. She need to reduce her weight and take regular exercises. Please consult an orthopedic surgeon and a physiotherapist for exercises.

Summary of Medical Question:

Tremors and Extreme Dizziness

Posted by:

Kaylee

I am 18 years old and have been prescribed Phentermine (37.5mg daily). I am not on any other medications.
From March to May I lost 35 pounds (200lbs to 165lbs) but nearing graduation I noticed the appetite suppressant wearing off. I decided to stop taking the help of the medication due to the side effects (dizziness at times, usually morning, fatigue, increased heart rate, slightly increased blood pressure, somewhat euphoria and dysphoria on certain days and radical changes.). I was advised to not exercise harshly due to a B-12 deficiency that has been affecting my nerves, particularly my Vegus (sp?) nerve. I had gained the weight from Hoshimotos, but my Thyroid seems to be changing to Hyperthyroidism (Seeing the endocrinologist that prescribed the Pherntermine every 3 months).
So during the break I watched more of what I ate and got off of carbonated drinks, and exercised 3 times a week, however the extreme hunger (I believe from the B-12 deficiency that I no longer receive 1cc twice a week for because I cannot stomach giving myself the shot and I have moved out and I cannot absorb the vitamin as well as the thyroid issues) has been returning so two days ago, while on my way home from vacation, I decided to restart the medicine. I felt ill but blamed it on the awful plane ride and traveling. Today I took the pill again (I guess in my mind to ween on, I know, I'm not a doctor, bad choice... Should have called my doctor.) and I feel just as ill, have a headache, fatigued. But what's really starting to get in the way is I'm incredibly dizzy, I've been in bed nearly all day I am so dizzy, and my hands have a slight tremor
(As if I drank a lot of caffeine) and it's beginning to worry me. I am currently at about 172lbs. My endocrinologist has said that my ideal weight is 150lbs (I believe because my bones are large, have a lot of muscle, am about 5ft7in, and have large breasts.) I tried to call my doctor, however, he is out of the office today and until Monday.
Family History - Dad is overweight, not obese, but overweight. Mother has hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, pernicious anemia, and has been significantly overweight in the past but has maintained a healthy weight for the past 6 or so years. Brother has low B-12
(His levels were about 250 at age 17, mine at 150 for 15. Seriously. Not mistaken.) and has become overweight in the past year, he is 21, otherwise has been at a healthy weight his whole life.
I've taken the medicine before and experienced slight side effects, but this is a little uncomfortable. Any suggestions or concerns? (Have eaten 1 poptart and 2 cups of popcorn, other food is extremely unappealing and I know I need to eat at least something. I do not believe it is low blood sugar.)

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Keep a control on your diet and take regular exercises. Continue medicines as advised.

Summary of Medical Question:

scabs

Posted by:

Anonymous

I am developing pinkish-red, various sized marks or spots on my body which are drying out and causing the skin to crack and form light scabing. They appear randomly and do not itch. The skin is just pinkish-red almost like a misquito bite but not quite. That affected area then turns dry and appears cracked but not broken open. There is no puss or blood or clear fluid. Then the skin turns brownish colour similar to a cigarette burn scab and leaves scars. I am also under severe stress.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Please get it checked by a dermatologist/ skin specialist.

Throid, pituitary problem or normal?

Posted by:

watson25

Two different GPs and my endo have tested me for thyroid issues this year because of my complaints of intermittant bouts with muscle spasms and cognitive issues. All of the doctors say I have no thyroid related problems, but some internet friends disagree. I am currently treated for secondary adrenal insufficiency by the endo. I am receiving no thyroid treatment. Is either a primary or secondary thyroid problem suggested by these numbers? Thanks.

Summary of Medical Question:

bloodvalues

Posted by:

cynthia

Hello, recently i became back my blood results:asat:95.00 U.I, alat45.00 U.I, alk fosf.327.00 U.I, gamma 157.84 U.I, HDL chol.71.80mg/dl, LDL 153mg/dl. According to the doctor is this a dangerous outcome (i do drink wine regularely) I was very shocked, because my docter sounded as if i would not become old. I don't mind quit drinking wine, but what do these values really mean?, and how urgent are they? Does this mean i can not drink a single glass of wine anymore? My bloodpressure is ok, and i'm feeling fit and well. I'm a woman, 38 years old. Thank you for you attention. Cynthia

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Your lipid profile is unfavorable and is a risk for developing heart attack. You need to reduce your total dietary intake/ foods especially meat products, fried items and junk food, and increase exercises that burn calories like jogging, skipping, long walks, swimming etc. If you want to take a glass of wine, reduce other foods to accomodate it.

Summary of Medical Question:

Hurts to cum but not to pee

Posted by:

Anonymous

Hello, I am a 13 year old boy. It doesn't hurt to pee at all only in an awkward situation where my penis is facing upward. It doesn't hurt to pee when I'm erect, and even non erect. But I have experienced 'wet dreams' and have cummed. It hurts, but I've noticed that everytime I do cum, it hurts less and less then the time before , but it hurts enough to wake me up in my sleep. I'm a virgin so there's no possible way I could have a sexually transmitted disease. I am circumcised. Am I normal or do I seriously have to get medical help, I'm shy. Well it's hard to explain the pain, I guess another way to explain it is that it doesn't pleasure me enough to keep me asleep at night. Please give me some feedback! Thankyou !

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

I could not understand your problem, please consult a doctor.
