Summary of Medical Question:

urine

Posted by:

Dawn

I havw a constant urge at all times to have to urinate, Badly! Most of the time I just get a trickle. At times I can go, but the feeling is not going away at all. It started last night. I am a 39 year old female.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Dawn, it seems to be urinary tract infection. Please collect a sterile bottle from a pathology laboratory and give them a sample of urine for culture and sensitivity test. After providing the sample you may start medicine like tablet norfloxacillin 400 mg twice daily. After 2 days based on the report of the urine test, the medicine can be changed. Many such infections are sexually transmitted. In future take precautions against STIs. Condoms can protect against STIs. Please consult a physician.

Summary of Medical Question:

period problems

Posted by:

dadoushka

I am a 29-year old female, and my doctor has just prescribed for me Yasmin birth-control pills to regulate the flow of my period. I've had heavy and long periods ever since I starting menstruating at age 11, and it seems it's getting worse with time. I have anemia and am always tired. I also get my period earlier than usual (on the 24th or 25th day instead of the regualr 28th) and it lasts for a minimum of 6-7 days. My question is: How long do I have to take it to regulate the imbalance, and if I stop, would its effects continue? Or would I have to take it forever? What if I decide to have kids in 6 months or a year, what would I do, and are there any side-effects?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

If the birth control pills are helpful in controlling excessive mentrual bleeding (menorrhagia), it may have to be continued on long term, say years. Before planning for child birth, anemia need to be corrected for the sake of your and baby's health. It would be advisable to continue the contraceptive pills for a 1-2 years to regulate menstruation, treat anaemia and then try for pregnancy. Oral pills, ofcourse will have to be stopped when you plan for a baby.

Tammy, our body structure and body weight to some extent depend on our genes. However, it can be improved through diet and exercises. Take nutritious diet- meat products, milk products, green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Take exercises regularly- long walks, skipping, cycling, swimming etc. You will gain weight but it will happen gradually.

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Amit, you may try probiotics like providac capsule one twice daily. Take light meals. If there is no improvement, investigations would be required to identify any abnormality in your stomach like pyloric stenosis for which endoscopic examination and barium meal x-rays would be required. Please consult a gastroentrologist.

Summary of Medical Question:

circumcision scar getting larger?

Posted by:

sven

hi, i was circumsized when i was about 5 and am 20 right now, it seems lately (maybe i just haven't noticed until now) have an excess of scar tissue, or that the the amount of scar tissue is growing, what could be the possible causes of this? Also it seems it may be more pink than normal, and the glans at times seems a little pale near the urethra down towards the frenulum. Is this normal?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Sven, hypertrophy (growth) of surgical scars occurs rarely. If the growth is not much, it may be left as it is. If the growth of tissues is too much causing problem, laser surgery or resurgery may be tried. After surgery also chances of reoccurence are there. Please consult a surgeon.

Summary of Medical Question:

Severe headaches

Posted by:

Anonymous

I am a 26 year old female and am 14 weeks pregnant with my first child. This past week I have been having severe headaches and a stiff neck. I have taken tylenol with little relief. I have also gone to the doctor the past two days receiving an iv with a dose of reglan and benadryl. This gave me relief for several hours, but once it wore off symptoms returned gradually thereafter. Yesterday I received a shot of demerol, which gave me about the same results as the iv dosage. I am really worried about the possibility of a brain aneurysm with theses symptoms. Should I be worried?

Answer by FreeMedicalHelpline.com

Most of medicines are harmful in first 12 weeks of pregnancy. So even at 14 weeks of pregnancy there is hesitation in giving medicines. However, to rule out any problem in brain you may get MRI test done. MRI is harmless to the baby. Also get your blood pressure and blood sugar tested. Please consult a physician.
